originally at Li Long. He came to Hongkong last year to colla- borate with Mr. Pearce and others in connection with the new translation of the Bible. He told the Provost Marshal that be wished to go to Li Long (two stations beyond Sham Chun). He speaks Hakka. Li Long is a Hakka tom.
His wife is ill and has only just got up after three weeks. She is recovering from a long illness.
The other stations of the Mission are a long way off and it would be impossible for his wife to travel very far.
Maute: asked to go to Long Hau in the Hakka district (7 hours walk from Shan Chun. 3 hours walk from Ping Hoi. He speaks Hakka.
